Discovering Chile: Santiago, Atacama & Patagonia – 14 Nights
Come join our Discovering Chile Tour! Chile is a land of dramatic contrasts—stretching nearly 4,000 km from north to south, it’s home to rocky mountains, vast glaciers, lunar-like deserts, dense forests, and rolling pampas. With such incredible diversity in landscapes and wildlife, it’s no wonder most visitors consider this a once-in-a-lifetime destination.
To help you make the most of your time, we’ve designed a journey that includes Chile’s top highlights, combining vibrant city life, surreal desert terrain, and awe-inspiring Patagonian wilderness. The entire itinerary is private and can be customized to your pace and preferences.
Day 1 – Arrive in Santiago
Upon arrival, you’ll be picked up at Santiago Airport and transferred to your boutique hotel. After a bit of rest and freshening up, we’ll take you on a guided tour to explore the highlights of Chile’s capital. From colonial buildings to modern viewpoints, you’ll get a true feel for the city. In the evening, enjoy the skyline lit up under the stars.
Day 2 – Valparaíso Day Trip
After breakfast, we’ll take you on a full-day trip to the colourful port city of Valparaíso. Known for its street art, steep hills, and bohemian vibe, this UNESCO World Heritage city is packed with charm. Visit historical sites, enjoy fresh seafood, and, if you’d like, take a boat ride in the harbour or explore Pablo Neruda’s quirky home overlooking the ocean. Lunch is included.
Day 3 – Andes Mountains & Stargazing
Today is all about nature and the stars. You’ll head out to the majestic Andes Mountains just outside Santiago. You can choose between a scenic day hike or a horseback riding tour—both offer stunning views and a peaceful connection with nature. After a gourmet picnic in the mountains, we’ll return to your hotel so you can rest. Then, in the evening, we’ll take you to a private observatory for a memorable stargazing experience with telescopes and expert guides. All meals are included today.
Day 4 – Winery Tour
No trip to Chile is complete without a day in wine country. Today we’ll visit two boutique wineries in the beautiful Maipo Valley. You’ll learn how the region’s climate and soil contribute to its world-class wines. Between tastings, enjoy a delicious lunch at a traditional Chilean restaurant. This is a relaxed and flavorful day surrounded by vineyards and Andean views.
Day 5 – Fly to San Pedro de Atacama
After breakfast, we’ll take you to the airport for your flight to Calama in the north. From there, a private driver will bring you to San Pedro de Atacama, a charming desert oasis town. Depending on your arrival time, you can either take an archaeological ancestry tour or enjoy another stargazing session at a desert observatory. You’ll settle into a boutique hotel in the heart of town.
Day 6 – Culinary Walk & Salar de Atacama
Start the day with a guided culinary and historical tour through San Pedro. Then in the afternoon, explore the famous Salar de Atacama. Visit Laguna Chaxa, where flamingos paint the landscape pink, and Quebrada Kezala, known for its ancient petroglyphs. This day is a perfect blend of food, culture, and natural wonders.
Day 7 – Sunrise at Tatio Geysers
Today starts early—but it’s worth it! We’ll take you to the Tatio Geysers at sunrise when the geothermal field is at its most active. Watch steam and boiling water shoot up against a high-altitude desert backdrop. In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to relax, explore San Pedro, or browse the local artisan shops.
Day 8 – Altiplanic Lagoons & Desert Traditions
We’ll head out early to visit the region’s stunning altiplanic lagoons. Their deep colors and high-elevation setting are truly surreal. After lunch, you’ll visit a small village to learn about traditional desert farming practices. You’ll also take part in a local wool production activity, giving you insight into how communities have adapted to life in the driest place on Earth.
Day 9 – Moon Valley & Return to Santiago
Before flying back to Santiago, we’ll visit the Moon Valley—one of the most famous landscapes in Chile. Its unusual rock formations and colors make it feel like you’re walking on another planet. After the tour, we’ll transfer you to the airport in Calama. You’ll spend the night at a hotel near Santiago Airport to rest before your southern journey.
Day 10 – Fly to Puerto Natales
Today you’ll fly to Punta Arenas, where a private driver will take you to Puerto Natales. On the way, stop at a traditional Patagonian ranch for a true “asado al palo” (Patagonian barbecue). You’ll meet the local family, watch sheep shearing, and enjoy a warm and welcoming meal before continuing to your hotel in Puerto Natales.
Day 11 – Torres del Paine National Park
This full-day tour takes you deep into the heart of Patagonia’s most famous national park. You’ll visit Lago Nordenskjold, Lago Pehoé, and the impressive Salto Grande waterfall. Lunch will be served at a restaurant with one of the best views in the region. Expect incredible scenery and plenty of photo stops throughout the day.
Day 12 – Lago Grey & Glacier Options
After breakfast, choose your adventure. You can either take a catamaran cruise on Lago Grey and visit the Milodon Cave, or add an ice-hiking excursion on the Grey Glacier (extra cost applies). Either way, you’ll experience unforgettable views of glaciers and icebergs, sip a pisco sour with glacier ice, and enjoy lunch before returning to Puerto Natales.
Day 13 – Estancia Experience
Spend the day at a local estancia, riding through open pampas, beech forests, and past waterfalls with stunning views of Laguna Sofía. After your horseback ride, enjoy a traditional Chilean barbecue at the ranch. This is one of our favorite days—slow, scenic, and full of southern Chilean culture.
Day 14 – Kayaking in Eberhard Fjord
This half-day kayaking excursion takes you through the calm waters of Eberhard Fjord. Paddle along the coast while taking in incredible Patagonian views. We’ll stop briefly at Villa Luisa, the former home of Captain Eberhard. After a few relaxing hours on the water, return to Puerto Natales by van.
Day 15 – Return to Santiago
Enjoy your final morning in Puerto Natales at your leisure. Later in the day, we’ll take you to the airport for your flight back to Santiago, where your adventure ends—or continues if you wish to explore more!
