What to Expect on Your Santiago City Highlights Tour
Your adventure begins with a 10:00 AM pick-up from your hotel. Once in the city center, we’ll start exploring the rich tapestry of Santiago’s past and present.
🏛️ Discover the Historical Heart of Santiago
Our first stop is Santa Lucia Hill, where Pedro de Valdivia founded the city in 1541. From the top, enjoy panoramic views of Santiago’s bustling city center and the surrounding mountains. Next, we’ll walk through Parque Forestal towards the market area.
Here we’ll visit Mercado Central, the city’s iconic fish market housed in a stunning art-nouveau style building. The market’s design mimics a classic London train station, and inside, you’ll encounter bustling seafood stalls, vibrant colors, and the lively atmosphere of local vendors.
Next, we’ll walk to Plaza de Armas, Santiago’s historic main square, we’ll take a short break for coffee while soaking in the lively atmosphere. You can also choose to enter Santiago’s Cathedral.
Afterward, we’ll head to La Moneda Palace, Chile’s presidential palace and a fine example of neoclassical architecture designed by Austrian architect Karl Brunner. As we stroll through the Civic Neighborhood, your guide will share stories about the building’s history and its role in modern Chile.
🍽️ A Taste of Santiago
If you want to dive into Chilean food, you can add our Local Flavours option -an easy add-on that includes three complimentary culinary food stops woven into the tour. We’ll kick things off at a cozy, an authentic Mapuche café, grab lunch at one of our favorite casual spots (you’ll choose between Completos, Empanadas, or a classic Sanguche), and wrap up things up with a local craft beer tasting -because we’re not only good at making wine!
Even in our standard tour, no visit to Santiago is complete without tasting some of its local flavours. At the end of the walking tour, we’ll recommend a few favourite spots where you can enjoy a proper Chilean lunch (not included) From there, you’ll have the option to explore the Bellavista neighborhood, known for its artsy and access to San Cristobal Hill via funicular or cable car -or we’ll help you back to your hotel.
